The Inogen  oxygen concentrator continuously measures multiple parameters to ensure safe and effective operation. This also monitors the quality of the columns (also called sieves). The columns are an important part of the concentrator because they filter the nitrogen from the ambient air, leaving concentrated oxygen.

If the quality of the sieves deteriorates, the message ‘ O2 prompt maintenance’ will appear on the display. From the time the message appears, the concentrator can be safely used for another 30 days. To temporarily remove the message, press the button depicting a light for three seconds. After 72 hours the message will reappear.

The expected life of Inogen columns is 18 to 36 months. Regular use of the concentrator is recommended to ensure the longest life of the columns. With regular use, they should be dried properly. Moisture is very bad for the zeolite columns of an oxygen concentrator.
